The Bovox Company, 2 Blackslone Street, Boston.
The circular of this company says “An essence of meat to be valuable should contain in a concentrated form a certain proportion of the nutritious parts of the meats together with the stimulating salts. While this is true it is an extremely difficult thing to accomplish. The manufacturers of Bovox have, after considerable expense in experiments, been able to put on the market an essence that contains an unusually large proportion of nutriment as well as all of the stimulating salts and in a very concentrated form so that in adding one or two teaspoonfuls to a cup of hot or cold water you have at once that quantity of strong beef tea and this has been done without the loss of the clean cooked flavor which is a decided advantage, particularly when it is used for convalescents or the sick. For a person suffering from typhoid or other wasting fevers, la grippe, pneumonia, nervous prostration etc where a stimulating and nourishing food is strongly indicated there can be no doubt of the efficiency of Bovox as it can be retained by the weakest stomach when made into beef-tea. It is assimilated at once having gone through a process of digestion in course of manufacture and will commence to make strength at once. There can be nothing better than Bovox for a hot drink with the meals. It is particularly adapted for breakfast as it stimulates without any reaction, taking the place of coffee with none of its bad effects. People who are irregular at their meals will not feel the loss of strength if when they are the least exhausted, they take a cup of hot or cold Bovox the result will be immediately felt. With Bovox in the kitchen there can be prepared the most delicious of soups by using it instead of meat, adding to the vegetables, macaroni, or tomatoes when cooked two teaspoonfuls or less to each plate of soup wanted.”
