Etienne Maurice Firmin Bouisset was a French painter, poster artist, and printmaker. Born to a working-class family in the town of Moissac in the Tarn-et-Garonne departement in southwestern France, Bouisset left an indelible mark on the world of art and advertising. His specialization lay in painting children, and he produced a number of illustrated books, including the charming La Petite Menagere in 1890. Bouisset’s iconic images graced advertising posters for various French food companies, such as Maggi and Lefevre-Utile (LU). Bouisset passed away in Paris on March 19, 1925. The LU Biscuits advertisement, created by Bouisset, is a captivating vintage French poster that dates back to 1897. The poster features a young boy dressed in white, donning a blue and red cape.
