Alphonse Maria Mucha (1860-1939) was a Czech Art Nouveau painter. However, he did a great many posters and prints. The period of his work has become known as the Belle Epoque. Art Nouveau poster ‘Bleu Deschamps’ created in 1897 is an advertisement for a ‘bluing’ product called ‘Blue Deschamps,’ which when used, created a whiter and brighter fabric. The image says ‘Bleu Deschamps en vente ici’ which means ‘Blue Deschamps on sale now.’
