Yngve Edward Soderberg (1896-1972) was an American artist whose career centered on Mystic, Connecticut. A painter, etcher, writer, teacher, designer, and lithographer, he is best known for his etchings, America’s Cup paintings, and maritime watercolors. Born in Chicago, Soderberg studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League of New York. His work captured the essence of small sailboats and the maritime world, making him unique among etchers. He painted America’s Cup races, sailed on the Endeavor II, and left a lasting legacy in nautical art.
