Aleardo Villa (1865-1906), an Italian, competiting in a French poster competition , submitted thewinning design for a poster competition made for an Argetine cigarette made from Cuban tobacco. The Art Nouveau style of the woman reclining on a bed of flowers and smoking a cigarette was very enticing and was a fine example of the artist’s talent.
